Roofing warranties
Warranty terms should be precise, written and consistent with manufacturer and contractor documents.
Two different types of protection
Manufacturer coverage applies to eligible products under the manufacturer's written terms. Workmanship coverage applies to contractor installation under the signed agreement. They are not the same.
Questions to ask
- Which products are covered?
- Who registers the warranty?
- Are enhanced warranties available and what certification is required?
- What exclusions, maintenance duties or transfer rules apply?
- What is the written workmanship-coverage period?
Launch rule: Do not publish a specific warranty length, certification or manufacturer program until the owner supplies current written proof.
